Florida College Camp announces the re-location of the 2008
summer camp to Camp Kulaqua in High Springs, Florida, beginning
the week of June 29th. (June 29th - July 4th)
Parents, please note the following changes, additions and
deletions to our camp schedule and activities, as they will
greatly impact your children's experience of camp. We are
convinced you will be excited about our decision to move the
camp to this location.
- This larger facility can accommodate more campers in smaller,
more private cabins and mini-lodges. We will no longer
have to turn children away for lack of space.
- Camper to counselor ratio will be much smaller with Groups 1,
2, 3, on an 8/1 ratio.
- Because of the activity options offered by this camp, children
will experience more "group" activities with their cabin mates
and counselors and less individual classes.
- Everyone will share mealtimes as the dining facility can
accommodate 600 people at one time. This means we can pray
together before meals and have announcements and songs after
meals. And the menu comes highly recommended!
- There is an auditorium where we can have devotions and our
talent show, complete with a sound system, lighting, sloped
seating and a stage.
- Camp Kulaqua provides us with a full staff on premises to
assist with sports set-up, building and cabin maintenance,
certified life guards and security.
- We will NOT have to attend a theme park
this year. As you read the list of attractions available to the
kids right on the grounds, you will understand why we made the
decision to change camp locations.
- Here is a list of attractions: a water park with wave
pool, slide and lazy river float track; a zoo complete with a
lion, tiger and bear (go ahead..."Oh My!") monkeys, reptiles and
other of God's creations; go carts; horseback rides; a rodeo; a
spring-fed watering hole with a swing and "the blob" (a water
pillow for catapulting friends into the air for a
splash-landing) for Group 2 and up; a double-sized gymnasium
with 4 basketball goals, indoor volleyball and 9 air-conditioned
classrooms around the perimeter; a putt putt golf course for
aspiring Tiger Woods prodigies; and a nature boardwalk tour.
Registration will begin in March. You will be able to pay with a
credit card directly into the secured Florida College site
(details on registration site). The camp fee is $350.00.
Check-in time will be Sunday the 29th, at 2:30 - 3:30 pm and check-out
time will be Friday the 4th, at 11:00 am.
After 15 years of wonderful memories at Camp Geneva in Leesburg,
all three camp directors are in agreement that this move to Camp
Kulaqua and the adjustments in the schedule will enable us to
touch more young lives, give your children a safe, secure week
of fun and provide the best value for your money.
If you have any questions at all about the changes, please feel
free to email Marianne Moody at
mare16@atlantic.net. Your email will be
answered promptly. |
